The tradition of the bachelorette party is very much alive in Norway, and it is commom for the friends of the bride-to-be to throw her a party she is not likely to forget, alternatively one she will never remember as huge amounts of booze are usually involved. Surprises are always part of the game, ranging from making the bride sell condoms in the town square to pay for drinks to taking her skydiving. Recently I was contacted by a group of girls wanting to set up a photo shoot for their friend who was getting married, giving me quite free hands on how to set it up. I got in touch with my good photographer friend Terje Bergesen, and together we planned and shot the result you see below.
A small note on the weather: It was sunny, but cold, and the wind was incredibly strong, we had trouble standing up at times.
And yet these girls jumped fearlessly in the freezing water, waves crashing into them, threatening to knock them over. Not a single complaint was heard, and if the bride tackles marriage with the same gusto she is in for a long one!
