| There's a bumper sticker sold at our local Variety Store which says 'Only In Fairfax'. John Walker Lynn, the American-turned-Muslim-turned-alleged-terrorist spent some childhood here, and we got labeled as the Birkenstock capital of California. The town looks like it never much left the late 60's, with businesses boasting 'green' and/or 'organic' in their titles or on their doors. |
| Fairfax spurns gentrification: no chain stores are allowed, and storefront rents are cheap enough to spur idealistic young entrepreneurs to open all manner of dreamy stores which usually close within a year or two, victims of unrealistic business acumen. Folks here just don't spend money on stuff.....Stay tuned for more tales and photos of life in Fairfax. |
