LOL, I was told that PTL stood for....Pass The Loot, Part Thy Legs, Pay The Lady, and so many more.
I never visited the place, but I do recall watching it on TV.
They both could start crying just about any time they wanted/needed to, LOL
When did all of this shut down? I came here with my husband and his family shortly after we got married. We stayed overnight. I have looked soo hard trying to find this place so I could bring my children here. little did I know it's a ghost town. The last time I was thier was in 1995.
thank the lord ptl is being raised from the dead. our lord and savior jesus christ can do this. i woudl love to be a volunteer in this venture. i do not think jim and tammy misused the funds cause what they spent had to go through the board of directors. thank the lord tammy is with the lord in heaven and jim is being restored to his ministry. we as christans should know that if we dont' forgive then we cannot be forgiven. if i could become a lifetime partner again i would i dont' think i lost a thing i was there 3 times and i think i would have spent more than that had i been paying for room and maenities. there is so much i woudl like to say but no room. i love this place i think it will do wonderful as long as it is used for the glory of the lord and not for profit.
theres a rude Heritage usa pitch-man,on the ghosttown fort mill page about the new Heritage usa.The page is not about that,I'm looking at the 1980's ptl ruins. That guy is on the wrong page on the wrong subject.Still i enjoy looking at this page about yester year thats ruins. The remodel job does not interest me i'm looking back like the page is really about.ghosttown at fort mill:
I enjoy the ghosttown fort mill web page.reading comments there is fun I add my 2 cents. It has held my interest for two weeks. Now im up to speed on the old ptl site.So many are at a loss about the matter there.mourning star to me is at a lonely lost sad location.I hope local development makes use of the property and clears whats left of the ptl ruins.
You have a great sense of humor, stumbled onto your site. Thanks for the time you put into all of these galleries. Have a blessed, prosperous and wonderful New Year. Jesus loves you.
Your pictures are wonderful.
Great website of the past grand Heritage USA
This place needs to be reopened somehow. There has to be someone with enough money to get it back on its feet. Lakeland, Florida

Its such a sad thing what the so-called wanna be preacher Jerry Falwell did with Heritage Village USA. He's nothing but a wolf in sheeps clothing and a sheep with the mange at that. Too bad he doesn't spend all that time on his eating disorder. Call Jenny Craig and get his sin under control. What a fat slob he is. He will answer for his evil deeds against other christians.
as a fellow Charlottean, I had fun visiting your galleries today. I really had never seen that Heritage USA place and your little gallery of history is kind of fascinating.
Maybe of interest- Not sure but the Christmas lights of former Heritage USA may have been relocated to Tanglewood Park in Clemmons, NC (Southwest of Winston- Salem off I-40). From what I remember they look very similar. Was very good display of lights. There is fee per car,but its worth it. Stop 1/2 way through to roast marshmallows at fire pit. Here's url-
The Billy Graham home is being located to his new headquarters and museum near the Charlotte airport (2- yr. building phase)-
I viewed the pitures of Herritage U.S.A. It was very sad. I was a TV viewer of the PTL Club show. I loved the show. When I found out that Jim Bakker had fallen, it was a blow to me personally. I defended my hero to my family and to my classmates. That was a personal blow that I felt for years. I never did like that Jerry Falwell. He seems to be very two faced. I wish that this place could reopen. But that is only a dream.
i will be please to visit the next coming conference in USA.
Hi - just wanted to let you know that I enjoyed your photos from the Charlotte Pride Festival (2005). I'm glad you were there and could take some photos. I would like to let you know and the visitors to your albums that they can find more photos on my website at
Thanks for having the photos available!
It's been a long time. My old roommate(with the bad shirt) sent me a link to your website. That was after he ranted about you calling his shirt unflattering, but I told him it wasn't unflattering, just a bad choice for gay pride. I hope you get this message and are doing well. From the pictures, you seem happy. Please e-mail me, maybe we can do lunch, it appears we have a lot of catching up to do.
Love, (not in anyone else's, just my own)
I just ran across your pages with the pics from PTL.
Very sad to see the old place in it's decay and former glory.
God had a purpose and a plan for PTL during that time in history and sad to say it doesn't look like it's going to get back to that again any time soon.
But you never know what God has in store.
Anyway, it's nice to think back on the 80's and days at PTL and the waterpark and such.

i lived in LANCASTER - SOUTH CAROLINA;; and i would stop in and visit as many times
as possible. MY WIFE TOLD ME . TO STOP IN AT PTL;; THERE WOULD BE A LADY ;WITH ALOT
OF CHILDREN; WHO HAS A SUSIE MUPPET IN A BOX;; ALL WRAPPED UP IN A GREEN
WRAPPING PAPER. I WORKED IN CHARLLOTE N.C, THRU THE TEMP AGENCYS;; I DROVE HOME
KNOWING;; FULL WELL ;I DID NOT STOP IN AT PTL. TO MT AMAZEMENT ;; THE RIGHT TURN; I
ALWAYS TOOK; TO MAKE ANOTHER RIGHT TURN; NOW I WOULD BE IN MY DRIVEWAY; I COULD NOT
SO I THOUGHT OF MANY OTHER WAYS; BUT THE STEERRING ALWAYS REFUSED TO TURN RIGHT?
WELL I MADE ALL THE LEFT TURNS; SO I COULD MAKE MY TRIP; TO PTL.
I PARKED MY PICKUP; AND WALKED TO THE CENTER MALL; WHERE THE ACTIVATY; WAS BUSY/
I WAS ENTERING THE PLACE; WHEN THIS LADY ; CAME OVER TO ME AND; TOLD ME THAT I
AM THE MAN ; WHO CAME FOR THE SUSIE MUPPET PACKAGE?????.
NOW REMEMBER MY STEERING? GOD HAD PUT A TIGHT SQUEEZE ON-IT; AND WHEN I OBEYED HIM
HE RESTORED MY STEERING?
YES ;PTL WAS AND STILL IS HALLOWED GROUND AND MARK MY WORDS; WHEN PTL IS FULLY
RESTORED. AND GREEDY PEOPLE START ATTACKING; ALL-MIGHTY GOD IS GOING; TO SEND TO THEIR
THOSE WHO THINK THEY; WILL ONCE AGAIN DESTROY IT?
REVIVAL-USA== IS ON ITS WAY
WOW what a great HERITAGE SITE even if it is in ruins.
Ace do you have any of the 1984-1987 video of the PTL Club Jim and Tammy shows. I will gladly buy them.
Your Heritage friend.
I am guessing from you comments you are gay, living in Charlotte. We need more gays ib Charlotte. this is a wonderful town but gays would really make this place jump. Its too uptight.
I am not gay but have live most of my life in Miami and gays really helped improve that place. Just the fact you can be openly gay in Miami make that place hot. Real Estate market boiling hot.
Charlotte open up.
Behind you 100%
hey there, i have a vision to reopen ptl and heritage usa, tell me what u think.
I just came across your website and was so blessed looking at the pictures of Heritage USA--the good pictures, and the ones of the place run down really saddened me. PTL was a lifeline for me throughout the whole decade of the 80's, when my life was difficult. I watch PTL daily and was encouraged. It will always hold good memories for me because PTL was my church for that time. I will be in Charlotte for 3 hours on Aug 31 on a layover to Washingon D.C. I would like to drive by. Could you please give me the address? Thanks again for posting these pictures. I just wish someone had revived this place for the Lord, but it appears now a developer has bought the remaining land and to me this is so sad.
