Fine interpretation and image of the cathedral! Placing it in the light ensures that it will be the feature of the image, leaving potentially distracting elements darkened and obscure. V

I see you have managed to get a very good shot of York Cathedral. There really isn't a lot of room to spread out and get a good shot... Yours is great.
