Two icons of past and today Iran:
Ferdowsi (940–1020 CE) was a highly revered Persian poet. Ferdowsi is one of the undisputed giants of the Persian literature. He was the author of the Shahnameh, the national epic of Iran and related societies. Ferdowsi's Shahnameh is the most popular and influential national epic in Iran and other Persian-speaking nations.
Ferdowsi has a unique place in Persian history because of the strides he made in reviving and regenerating the Persian language and cultural traditions after Arab's invasion; the fact that never happened in most countries taken over by Arabs.
