This bi-annual event is held in the city of Hamilton, OH. We had nice cold weather (for the ice) this year. I started shooting this event with the camera mounted on a tripod. It became quickly apparent however, that the crowds were going to make that somewhat difficult. I switched the camera to ISO1600, and shot the remained of the shots handheld. This afforded me the ability to move around within the crowds much easier, but did increase the noise level a little. I was able to clean up most of the noise in post-processing. I also had to push the envelope on shutter speed, going down 1-2 stops slower than recommended handhold speeds in some cases.
