Sarasota, Florida: The Sarasota Reds were the Florida State League affiliate for the Cincinnati Reds from 2005 through 2009. A few notable Sarasota Reds have made their way to the big league roster including Jay Bruce, Joey Votto, Drew Stubbs and Adam Rosales. Click here to read more about the Reds.
Cincinnati and Pittsburgh will be trading places with their minor league teams. Cincinnati will be moving their A+ team to Lynchburg in the Carolina League and Pittsburgh will be moving their A+ to Bradenton in the Florida State League.
I have heard the same thing last year, but nothing official. With Cincinnati moving spring training to Arizona, only time will tell what will happen to the Sarasota Reds. They will need to field a High-A franchise somewhere, the other 2 options are the California League and Carolina League. Going to the rumor mill, I had heard a few months ago that Pittsbugh was intrested in the team, since they put lights at McKechnie Field, they wanted to field a team there during the Florida State League. But anything this early is just speculation.
More pictures of Sarasota Reds players will be added throughout the season. I am a season ticket holder and attend games on a regular basis. If you would like to be updated as new pictures are added, send me an e-mail to jwdonten@comcast.net and I will add you to a notification list.
