Red Warbler Flight

This active warbler was almost playful in its foraging technique. We took turns shooting this bird for several minutes (only have the one nice camera between us) before it flew across a canyon and out of range. What a fantastic little warbler. That white cheek patch varies regionally from white, as seen here, to a bright silver that looks like a shiny dime was stuck to the bird's cheek.

Hello Donna,

To answer your question, all of the images we took in Mexico, including this one were taken hand-held, as we did not bring along a tripod. In fact, most of our photos on this website (at least 90%) were taken using hand-holding techniques, or shot off of a beanbag from a vehicle windowsill. We find tripods to be unnecessary weight, ungainly and slow to get into action for our type of mobile "shooting on the go" while hiking around. Although we do have about a half dozen tripods that we bring out on rare occasions, (and when we need them, trust me, we love them) we just always have to pack light on our trips, and have adapted to tripod-free shooting, which we thoroughly enjoy.

Awesome...so clear! Are you using a tripod here?
