Life is simple in rural northern Wisconsin and I wouldn't want to change that. It is still primarily a farming community. Sadly, many small dairy farmers were forced to quit or work two jobs in order to survive. Hunting and fishing are favorite pastimes and an important asset to the economy. Winter is a quiet time - only the hardy ones stay, the 'snowbirds' go south. In summer the pace of life picks up with people returning to their summer homes or cabins.
