During the month of July, an apparently orphaned coyote
pup decided that our home was the ideal place to hang out. We live
in a semi-rural area with lots of wildlife, including many packs
of roaming coyotes. Worried at first about the clueless one's behavior,
I touched bases with wildlife foundations and other experts, before
deciding to let her work out her dilemma alone. (No feeding of cute,
little wild critters that become bigger, wilder critters who then decide
to stake a claim on my property!) She never came close enough to us to
cause worry, but would just lie under one of the cars and watch us go
about our day - even staying to watch Michael skateboarding right past her.
I was away for a few days at the end of the month and came home to find
the pup has apparently moved on. Maybe she got big enough to rejoin a
nearby pack - at least I'm hoping so.
