Naked Cowboy -South Street Seaport

Although a constant subject for the tourist photographer, I couldn't bring myself to not post an image of the Naked Cowboy since we happened upon him. I tried, through post processing to make this image feel a little surreal - as surreal as seeing a grown man strumming and strolling in his underwear! The harsh, midday sun was brutal - but even more brutal are the reactions of the surrounding tourists - they're not really paying much attention to him. (There was, however, a pretty young blonde woman just out of camera range, who apparently was quite smitten. No, not me....I'm blonde, but not that young!)

I think that Kent puts is right - at least that's my perception of large cities. Your work of isolation works well.

You did a great job with the light. I like the misted background. With that body he can continue to wander around in his undies.

A very incongruous moment, Jenene -- did you get any of him from behind instead of the side? The words written across the back of his underwear might have made the image even more incongruous as well as abstracting the image and leaving more room for the imagination of the viewer to work.

Where does he keep his plectrum?

He has nice legs!!! LOL! So much strange stuff happens in NY that this is probably quite the norm!

Sucks to be him...naked, cowboy hat, and playing a guitar and he still can't get any attention ;-) I would say it is the casual indifference of New Yorkers, except there is nothing but tourists at South Street Seaport :-)
