Only in North America! Yes, the divide can be taken symbolically, but actually, I would say that spiritual and business can very tangled to be as well, in the US society, as in this image!

This is a not only a beautiful image to look at, Jenene -- it offers us a substantive image to think about. By reflecting and dividing a church within the windows of a corporate office building, you are commenting on the growing divide between the secular and spiritual aspects of society. In this case, you seem to be saying that the secular world, rooted in commerce and symbolized by the wall of glass windows, has fractured and divided the spiritual world, causing a fissure that fragments the place the spiritual realm once held in society. You are asking the viewer to think about this fragmentation and what it means. I have produced two images that deal with the same theme, only in differing ways. I have distorted the reflection of a church in an office building, suggesting secular pressures in my image athttp://www.pbase.com/image/69229604 and I have contrasted a small church to a massive display of windows similar to yours in my image athttp://www.pbase.com/image/69229328 which suggests that a new belief system, based on careerism and financial gain is replacing the primacy of traditional spiritual belief. Many photographers would make an image like yours as merely an aesthetic exercise, content to create a striking image based on abstraction, reflection, and contrast. But you are taking it beyond that level to make a social comment by splitting that reflection in half, which fragments the old church and seemingly hastens its absorption by the commercial structure.
