I fully agree with Phil. The framing acts more than visually here, as the scene on the other side looks to be straight from another century. The light and the colors are really superb - this unique dry air that you find in Arizona.

I feel like I've walked into the past! This is exceptional through the archway. I can almost see the folks from yesterday walking through this scene! Excellent and I love the other pic too! Very creative and artistic shot! V

The dim lighting inside the window hints at its form, yet leaves it only partially defined. I like the feeling this gives as I feel I have stepped back in time to the clear world outside, and the frame feels more like "the future".

It is not the clarity that makes this image express its idea -- it is the intensity of the abstract time tunnel you have used to frame the mission, and project us into the past. You do where what I did for a temple in Mandalay at
http://www.pbase.com/image/40195929 In my case, the woman gives the viewer the perspective of a visitor coming upon the temple. In this case, the abstracted branches and plantings separate today from yesterday.
