Paint my morning
As a gentle dream,
That teases away softly
From the shadowed night.

Striking sunrise. V

Love the subtle tones here (on my monitor a greenish grey towards the corners). So much better than just shades of yellow. Perfect exposure and like JD I really like the natural layering.

Beautiful. Love the light diffused by the fog, the subtle tones, and the layers! The fence really enhances the composition. V.

I have recalibrated my side by side monitors and yes, I do see a goldish glow in the area just above the sun. The rest of the image is greenish blue. I know your monitor and mine do not see images alike -- and I would guess that others will see still other renditions. Such is the nature of internet display. When it comes to color, every viewer will have their own version of it.

I see a mix of blue, green and gold. Maybe the true color is there, in between. The natural layering, increased by the mist, is very well rendered. The contrast and exposure are perfectly mastered. A superb scene!

Phil, after reading your comment I had to immediately get up and check the white balance setting on my camera. I almost exclusively shoot with it set to 'cloudy' as do you. Sure enough, that was the setting when I took this. More and more I'm thinking my monitor is playing tricks on me - this has a distinct golden glow on my monitor - but it's green on yours.

This is a magical image, Jenene -- you do for Southern California what I tried to do for Yellowstone athttp://www.pbase.com/pnd1/image/69221194 andhttp://www.pbase.com/pnd1/image/69221191
I love the railing that moves through the image, creating a barrier between us and the mysterious netherworld you define just beyond it. The main difference between my images and this one is the color. I never use auto white balance. I use the cloudy white balance at all times, which adds a warming effect to my images. That is why mine is touched with gold and yours is greenish. You can bring back some of that gold, if you wish, by putting this into photoshop and playing with your red and yellow settings under "color balance." See how you like it.
