Solas 006 - Seamus Egan

Lowell, MA

Solás (Irish for “light”) showcases Seamus Egan’s skills on a variety of instruments. He plays flute, tin whistle, mandolin, and tenor banjo. (He is an All-Ireland champion on each.) He also demonstrates his virtuosity with the low whistle, nylon-string guitar, bodhrán, and uilleann pipes. The leader and founder, he was born in Philadelphia and raised for a time in Co. Mayo, Ireland . In addition to producing all of the band’s albums, Seamus has recorded three solo albums and scored the film "The Brothers McMullen." His song “I Will Remember You” became a hit for singer Sarah McLachlan. He also performed on the soundtrack for the movie "Dead Man Walking," and wrote the score for the Irish stage show "Dancing on Dangerous Ground."
