Nickerson Beach is located in Lido Beach, Nassau County, New York. The area is situated on the Atlantic Ocean and is well known locally for being home to large colonies of nesting shore birds. It is popular with photographers in the summer months to observe Black Skimmers, terns, plovers and American Oystercatchers breeding and raising chicks. The nesting areas are staked off to minimize disturbance to the birds and for protection of the photographers!
