Harriman State Park is the second largest park in the parks system of New York State at approximately 47,000 acres and is located in Orange and Rockland Counties, 30 miles north of New York City. A portion of the park lands were a gift of the Harriman family to the State of New York in 1910. The park contains 31 lakes and reservoirs, 200 miles of trails and public camping areas and group camps. The park in a favorite with hikers and visitors year round, particularly in the fall.
