Harvest Time and Mudéjar Style in Castilla

The pictures were taken in "La Moraña" and "Tierras de Arévalo", regions of Ávila (Castilla y León).

July, the cereal's fields are golden, is the Harvest Time in Castilla y León (Spain).

In the 13th century emerged on the Iberian Peninsula an architectural style: The Mudéjar. This style is characterised by the use of brick as the main material, giving rise to what has been called Brick Romanesque. In this gallery are shown some examples of this simple and poor, but beautiful, architecture.

Que suerte encontrar tus fotos de iglesias en el estilo Mudejar. I am an artist in the process of researching for a 10.000 word dissertation about the birth and legacy of the Mudejar architects. It has proved to be a complex subject, but the style is aesthetically so appealing to me as an artist and I was so sure there must be many lesser known buildings scattered around Spain. Your photos have been the most interesting and exciting find I have had since I started some 300 hours ago. Thank you, thank you, thank you - estoy contentisima!
