Lauderdale Courts

From 1949 to 1953 Elvis and his family lived in Lauderdale Courts which at the time was a public housing project in Memphis. The projects were renovated and redesigned to become "Uptown Square", an upscale apartment and condominium community. Elvis' former building and apartment, #328, was slated for demolition but thanks to the support and intervention of his many fans the unit was preserved and is now a museum. On August 7th of 2004 it was first opened to the public.
