Just bought my first DSLR - Canon 40D.
Any suggestions on a nice Wide Angle Zoom? Can't afford the L lenses right now. Any thoughts on the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8?

I hope you don't mind me taking the opportunity to send you a message.
I have been looking at the various galleries on PBase for a while and find the variety of photography quite breathtaking.
Your gallery, I must confess is very engaging. This is mostly because of the reviews you so generously share.
I am accustomed with the film SLRs but have recently bought a Canon XTi. Incidentally,
I also purchased a Tamron lens package (for a bit more than you paid for yours). Since I am as amateur as they come, I felt a great relief after reading your reviews on the Tamron 70 - 300. The other lens in the package is a 28 - 80mm. Is there a big difference between the expected performance of this lens and the 28 - 70 you reviewed?
