Hello James. Thanks for visiting and commenting. I'm using David Bailey's quote (unless you want me to delete it). I really enjoy photographing the ordinary (subjects that most people would pass by without a second thought). A lot of subjects can make almost any photographer look good, but the bigger challenge, I believe, is transforming the ordinary to make IT look good. Whether I succeed or fail, I have fun doing it.

Hi James

http://www.pbase.com/image/59550411

Thanks for looking at my pic of the butterfly. I'm glad you liked it. You mentioned not knowing they had Great Mormon Swallowtails in Hong Kong. I gotta tell you, I took this one in a butterfly house in a park over there, so it's not in the wild. I've no idea if they have them outside captivity over there.

James, no I didn't sell my bike (in response to your question). And thanks for reminding me to update that old for sale image out in my gallery...

Oh yeah, every time I view your gallery, I wonder why I have a DSLR & Lenses. You are making me want to put the whole thing up on eBay and get an S3IS...

James thank you for your comments. I am not a artist but a nature lover. My motto is simple, I give back to the world that what I see in nature, no alteration or additions, just the image. My models make the image and for as long as I see them you will see them.
Regards, Arno.

Hi James, I didnt realise that I hadnt signed your guestbook yet!! Just a keen eyed amateurs word on your amazing pictures!! it is you who has given me the inspiration to carry on snapping! I have been overwelmed by the response to my pics. You were one of the first to compliment me and I appreciate that!! You live in such an amazingly beautiful place that every time I look at one of your pictures it makes me feel good!! WOW!! Your images are almost lifelike and because of my fear of flying you are bringing me beauty that I will never probably see! Im sticking with Panasonic because the camera has to take some credit to!! Its showing the images the way I see them so It cant be bad!! Im having the fz30 for christmas so perhaps I will be able get some pics of the Heron thats been eluding me all summer then with my 12 times Zoom!! Watch this space!! Once again I cant wait for my next visit to your galleries some time in the not too distant future. One word sums your pictures up and that is Breathtaking!!! I love your captions and you which are sometimes very deep, they certainly pull at the heart strings!! Well done keep up the Awesome work and thank you once again for inspiring me! I am a printer by trade and have been looking at images for 20 years, its only now that they are coming out!! Your Friend Adrian ( God this is a long Guestbook ramble but you are worth it) Cheers

James,
You have some nice galleries!! I don't know the Canon S2 IS can do such nice pictures. I should think about it to back up my 20D. Nice job James!!....keep it up.
Bob Townsend11-Aug-2005 03:56
Thank you for the compliments but I am not sure I am ready to be "idolized" just yet. There are far more worthy people out there who definately deserve it. I love my Canon S1 IS and I am very interested in what you can do with yours with it's increased capabilities. I actually thought briefly of getting an S2 myself but I think my upgrade path lies along the lines of either the Rebel XT or the 20D DSLR cameras. I bought my camera last April with the sole purpose of posting photographs online. But when I joined the local camera club, something I highly recommend to all, I found the need to print quality enlargements. That is where I find my 3.2mp camera limiting.

Here is a website I want you to check out:http://www.lensmateonline.com/S2.html They sell an adapter so you can use filters on your camera. The shots I took of the Great Salt Lake from Antelope Island where taken with a polorizing filter. Makes for deeper blues. No need for the vivid setting.

Thanks for the comment on my semidaily gallery.... I appreciate the encouragement.

Very nice photos!!
I used Adobe Photoshop CS to creat frames. Just add some canvas size to your picture and use 2 strokes for the outside frames and use bevel and emboss for the 3d effect. I played around and got some ideas...
