This is the sleek new ribbon of freeway that The State of California has erected at the doorway to the town of Crockett. Crockett is a small, old, working class, factory town. It is home to the large C&H Sugar factory. This place - more than most - has been lost in time. Ironic freeway. Ahead are a couple of bars, a market, a hardware store, and a gas station. All but this last have uneven wooden floors and crumbling brick walls. There is a nifty little restaurant down on the waterfront - just beyond the sewage treatment plant - that serves up some pretty good steak and seafood.
