Würzburg. St.Johannis Church

The St. John's Church is the second Protestant Church in Würzburg and the first by the leizpig.-Luth. Municipality itself was built. It was consecrated in 1895 to John the Baptist. As at that time it was built in the neo Gothic style and was a nave nave with a massive Bell Tower, Central standing above the main portal. This church building was almost completely destroyed during the Allied bombing raid on March 16, 1945.Only the stump of the old Bell Tower stands by the Church. In the year 1957 was the consecration of the new Church, which was built according to the plans of Munich architect Reinhard Riemerschmid. He put on a long spike the two stair towers next to the damaged main tower, which now extend 60 m into the sky.
