Copenhagen. Kongelige Bibliotek – The Black Diamond

Reflections in the late afternoon light.
Though you might need more than the aid of your reading glasses to decipher Scandinavia’s largest collection of books and manuscripts (including everything that has ever been published in the country since the 17th century), the Royal Danish Library is worth a visit for the staggering architecture of ‘The Black Diamond’ (Den Sorte Diamant in Danish) alone. The modern extension, built in 1999 and made from black marble and glass, has amazing views over the sea and nearby Christianshavn, and leaves the old librarian ‘Shhhh’ signs firmly in the dust with a concert hall, the national museum of photography, and regular talks and lectures by visiting authors such as Philip Pullman, John Irving and A.S Byatt.

Makes me wonder if the architects planned the reflection to happen like this or if this was a bonus. Whatever, it makes for a beautiful image. V.
