Santuari de la Balma

On the border between the provinces of Castellón and Teruel, you’ll find this sanctuary carved into the rock which has been a place of pilgrimage since time immemorial.
Once, the mentally ill were taken there to “cure” their ailments with rituals. In that time, the sorcerer Oncedos attained such great wealth that they ended up banning the practice of rituals.
But, at night, women dressed in black known as the Caspolinas continued with the rituals. The remedy they used was imbibing magical black dust (made from rocks) and spring water. History aside, I’d suggest visiting this odd place above all for its location and beautiful views.

Nice shot and amazing history. I wonder if our beliefs will look so ridiculous in the future. V
