Mürrenbach Falls

view map

Well-known for 72 waterfalls, the Lauterbrunnen Valley is where you can see Switzerland’s highest waterfall, Murrenbach Falls. Thundering over 1,300 feet to the ground, the falls are especially unrestrained during late spring and in the summer after a rainstorm. The falls rush down in five cascades, which interrupt any longer free-falling veil. Getting there from Berne or Lucerne by car or rail to the hamlet of Lauterbrunen is about two hours from Berne and an hour from Lucerne. From the hamlet to the falls your drive is under 10 minutes. By train or bus it's about 40 minutes and over two hours on foot. You can heighten your Murrenbach Falls experience with a close encounter of the spray kind by cable car between Gimmelwald and Stechelberg station.
