The Limmat River gets its water from Lake Zürich. From the lake it flows west through the city center, past the main railroad station and then past the National Museum to where it joins up with another river called the Sihl.
Eventually the Limmat flows into the Aare River, which in turn flows into the Rhine near Waldshut.
