Statue of King Bladud and a pig in Parade Gardens, Bath. Bladud was a legendary king of the Britons, for whose existence there is no historical evidence and is supposed to have founded a settlement at Bath. Legend has it that he cured himself of leprosy after bathing in mud from a near to the site of present day Bath. He is said to have got the idea from noticing that pigs, who also bathed in the mud, did not suffer with any skin conditions.
