Avila. Basílica de San Vicente

The material used for construction is the "Stone Cali" , a sandstone of yellowish and reddish orange with streaks even by their content of iron oxides from the quarries of the nearby town of La Tailpiece . In some areas, such as the altar and the apse south, we used a variety especially rich red shade called "sandstone bleeding" .
The authorship of the building is attributed to architect French Fruchel Giral , who introduced the style Gothic in Spain , and is allotted also traces of the Cathedral and the Iglesia de la Magdalena of Zamora . The plant is a Latin cross with three aisles terminating in apses semicircular and a transept very elongated dome , courtyard , two towers (unfinished) and crypt . The pillars are of a Greek cross on plinths cylindrical, with half embedded.
