The Ca 'd'Oro is a remarkable building in Venice , which now houses a museum .
It was built from 1442 by Giovanni and Bartolomeo Bon on commission of the Attorney of San Marcos Marino Contarini . The Ca 'd'Oro , with its marble facade richly gilt, a good example of change that marks the transition from Gothic to Renaissance in Venice. The marble lattices of the first and second floors, the parapets of the balconies and windows show ways that point now clearly the late-Gothic colonnade at ground level and the small square window on the right wing and Renaissance forms indicate . The palace is incomplete and the lack of left wing causes the asymmetry of the facade.
It was acquired in 1894 by Baron Giorgio Franchetti who donated to the Italian state on 1916 .
