MP 1627 is almost at its' final destination...Crossing the Lower Cache (pronounced C-A-S-H) River runoff...a man-made dredging of the Cache River...intended to drain the watershed and swamp for logging. The writing on the bridge is clearly spelled out "Chicago and Eastern Illinois". The train most likely picked up cars at Karnak, IL from Conrail...coal interchanged from Saline County strip mines. MP hauled it to Joppa.
