MOSCOW ART TRIO is one of the most exciting formations of New Jazz, where the borders between jazz, folk and classical music are blurred. Musicians created something completely new out of extremely different elements, spicing it with their sense of humour.
Mikhail Alperin is one of the most creative contemporary travelers between jazz, modern classical an folk. As a performer and composer, he focuses mainly on his MOSCOW ART TRIO, set up in 1990. Next to Alperin, who refers to himself as a “rather improvising pianist”, the lineup includes Arkady Shilkloper – a classically trained French horn player and folk singer, and clarinet player Sergei Starostin. Alperin cooperates also with other musicians. He composes film soundtracks, arranges ballet music and repertoire for a joint project of Huun-Huur-Tu/Angelite, and performs solo and as a duo with Shilkloper.
