Zborov castle is located in eastern part of Slovakia, north east of Bardejov. This royal castle is located on the forested hill at an elevation of 1422 feet. It is also called Makovica. The castle was built shortly after 1317. It was a border King's castle in the northern part of Hungarian-Polish road north of Bardejov. In the period of estates' uprisings it was attacked by the Imperial army and destroyed in 1684. It re­mained a ruin ever since.
