This church is actually a Ukrainian church which was closed and left to ruin after the war when Ukrainians were forced out of the area. It was used as a daycare and a number of other uses before being renovated in the 1990s. When the last members of a local Ukrainian family died, relatives living in Canada gave the proceeds from the sale of the land to the church to support the renovation and reopening . The new Roman Catholic church is built on their former land. The original alter doors dating to the 1500s were found during the renovation.
