Interesting. The Cao Dai sect which started up in Vietnam around 1926 I think, uses this image in their temples, also. They have incorporated a lot of things from other religions and from history. I think Joan of Arc is one of their saints, also Victor Hugo. We lived for a few months in a lane way, just over form a Cao Dai temple. I loved the sound of their gong around 4 a.m. it was muffled and gentle, but marked the time. I was sorry to move away.
