Hoover Dam

Hoover Dam, Nevada, USA

Hoover Dam, once known as Boulder Dam, is a concrete arch-gravity dam in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River, on the border between the US states of Arizona and Nevada.
It was constructed between 1931 and 1936 during the Great Depression and was dedicated on September 30, 1935, by President Franklin Roosevelt.
Its construction was the result of a massive effort involving thousands of workers, and cost over one hundred lives.
Hoover Dam is one of the world's most impressive man-made structures, so big it can be seen from space.

I watched a TV program about this dam - what a place and what terrible conditions the worker lived and worked in.
Great shot Jola

Great view. I'm always amazed at this place. Great photo, you have caught the power! V
To see this from above, go to this photo from an airplane window. It isn't perfectly clear because of the glass. You can see the dam and when the giant bridge was just beginning to be built.http://www.pbase.com/lynnh/image/108712268

Excellent view point. It truly is difficult to decide what to leave in, or out, of such a large structure. I'm guessing the tonal range was off the chart, and that has been ably dealt with as well.

That is impressive isn't it! I got in trouble there about 11 years ago climbing over a barrier to try to get a good perspective for a shot.
