The Beskid Niski is the lowest range in all Carpathians Mountains. The highest summit is Lackowa (997 m). It is a land of low mountains, beautiful valleys and clean rivers. It is the longest mountain range in Poland, with a very small population. This is why nature here has preserved its original pure beauty. The forests are full of wild animals: deer, roe deer, wild boars, beaver, otter, lynx, wildcat and foxes as well as wolves and brown bear. 137 birds' species including rare birds like: cranes, black storks, woodpeckers, ravens, columbines and some other predatory birds like owls, buzzards and sparrow hawks. In 1992 the Jaslinski Natural Park was established and in 1995 - Magurski National Park. Within the Park boundaries 10 nature reserves has been established. National Park and nature reserves, ancient Orthodox churches, old cemeteries, war cemeteries and chapels attract the attention of tourists.

The Beskid Niski is also connected with the tragic history of the Ruthenians (the Lemko), who had lived in this land for ages before they were banished from it by the communists in 1947. The charming Orthodox churches with their beautiful old iconostases and historical wooden architecture in former Lemko villages are the only traces of that culture.
