Cut capture. Once again I find this image with the TC attached to be quite soft compared to images I have seen with this lens without the TC.

How adorable! Are they "Love Birds" or just sharing a peck?
John, I can definitely see a major difference in the reds in this shot! Was the camera set as "standard", you said you were going to make the change earlier. Not quite as sharp as taken without the TC, but having 700mm in your HANDS is darn impressive! Your left arm must be like my thigh, LOL. I think it's DOF that's cutting down on some sharpness, even @ f 8.5! Tell me, are the berries closer to their true color?

You know that when you reduce the size of your picture "in camera" you're just letting it's JPEG formula compress the image more, you're still using the WHOLE sensor and reducing the file size by "throwing away" image information? If you open the jpeg's in Photoshop or Lightroom the length & width will be different, but the resolution will STILL BE 300 dpi. At least that's how it works on my cameras, and I'm sure that's what happens with yours too. Nikon's may cost different amounts but they ALL do this part the same way!
