What made Frosterley famous

Frosterley 'Marble' is a grey limestone rich in fossilised coral, which can be polished to look like black and white marble. This piece was carved and erected to commemorate the re-opening of the Weardale Railway in July 2004.

I can't imagine the railway not being in operation there. It seems such a part of the beautiful scenery.
