There where only five teams back in 88.We came in third place. “Truck Star” Dulikon became champions. Nobody ever figured out why you would name a team “Truck Star”. Some original members later formed a new team in Olten, they named it “Moose Junction”, well they used to live next to the nuclear power plant, maybe that explains it.

It would not have made much sense to have different age groups, since most teams where lucky to find enough players for one team. What we did was, to simply let the kids play major league rule games. We played nine inning games on regular adult baseball fields. We had road games as far away as Sierre, witch was a 3 ˝ hour road trip. We had one hell of a team in 1989. The inexperienced kids always got to play first. Coach Enrico Zingg would give opposing teams as much as a ten run lead, until he let the hounds of the leash. Meaning that players like Gustavo Salami, David Luisi, Ricardo Lopetrone, Dario Carrozza, Farrid Bekali had to make up the deficit and turn the game in a victory. It always worked. Enrico was in Hospital for the playoff and finals, so I had to take over. Beating the “Truck Stars” to enter the finals, was not much of a problem. The Flyers was a different story. They won the other division, and we never played them before. The minute they appeared on the field, we knew this would not be easy. The last inning 11 to 10 homegame victory, reflects how much of a battle the game was.
