Heerestag 06, or Army Day which is only every eight years or so, was held in Thun this weekend. All branches of the Swiss army where present. There was a historic artillery group reenacting the year 1840. The Swiss air force acrobatic team put on a air show, Paratroopers where dropping from the sky, and if you think in a modern day army there’s no place for horses, think again. Different displays of how the troops work where put on. Also since Thun is the home of the armored troops, they have a very fine tank museum.
