On a cold bright day in late December, my brother and I rode to Old Warden from Milton Keynes about 40 miles away and enjoyed tea and buns in the restaurant and a wander around the collection itself.
We had just got our 1951 BSA 650cc "Golden Flash" back on the road and which can just be seen peeping out behind the Harley in this picture. Both are perched on the concrete circle which we assume was used to "swing the compass" of aircraft under maintenace here at the aerodrome.
Laterly this circle has become the favoured parking place for motor cycles visiting the aerodrome while on model flying days it is often used for tethered car racing. Elsewhere in my galleries you will find pictures of Oliver Tiger model aero engines and these had their origins in engines built for this type of car racing.
