Built for the film "Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines" along with replicas of other aircraft types typical of the era (c1910), this aircarft is one of just two remaining flying replicas (the Bristol Boxkite can just be seen in the background). That the Avro turned out to be the best handling and most practical of the designs built for the film in the early months of 1964 is a tribute to the skills of A V Roe and of course to the Hampshire Aero Club who built the replica.
