Dear all, I saw two pictures (45-05-10 James G Jones and Piper Cub near Weimar.jpg and 45-05-10a John Glascock and Piper Cub near Weimar.jpg) on this page with a cub in the back with the tail sign 3304. The rest is not shown. I'm an owner of a Piper Cub L4H with the military tailsign 43-30480. Usually during the WWII the first number (4) is not including the tactical number. That means the number was 3304 80. So there is a posibillity that the plane on the picture is my plane now! Do you have more information about the picture, the pilots or there missions? Thank you for all that you did for us. We just recently lost our Uncle that was in the Phillipines during WWII. His tank, Battling Basics, was the first to break through the gates at the college holding people captive at St. Thomas. They were due to be put to death the next morning. His stories will live on in my heart, as well as the photos from your gallery.. You have done a wonderful job. I am going to pass this site on to several of my friends and some students that are very much into World War II history. Great Job! and again thanks for all that you and your fellow soldiers did for us.

Back again. I have a 1939 National Guard Historical Annual that includes the 128th F.A. Lts. Casey, Ohsiek and Thorne. 1stSgt Shanklikn, Sgts Gmeiner, Hambleton, Luman, Lummel,Sausself, and Schutz (Noel W). Shows Pvt1st class Alvin R. Glascock. Also a very large (broken in two)of those at Fort Jackson, withOhsiek Commanding and Dad S/Sgt. My scanners is not working, but can get some photos to you later if you like.

PPS. And another thing. My Dad was with the third army in Germany as well. At headquarters, Heidelberg (have to look that up). His command of German stood him well.

P.S. Dad is in the picture "40-11-29 Battery A Farewell Party.jpg." He is at the first table in the front, first one on the left of the head of the table. Really "front and center" so to speak. Dad went to Germany with the occupation, then recruited in Northern Minnesota. He was in the first Cav Division in Korea and we joined him when they were transferred to Sapporo, Hokkaido. Then he went to Georgia and finally ended his career with the ROTC unit at Marquette University in Milwaukee. Thanks for your photo gallery. I don't believe I saw Dad there! He died in 1957. If anyone knew him, please contact me. I miss him a lot.

My father, S/Sgt Noel Schutz was a full-time sergeant at the Battery A Armory. My earliest memories are living on Hickory Stree and meeting my Dad every night when he came down the back horse ramps to the alley that led to our house (3rd down from the armory I believe). I remember Fort Jackson as well as I began first grade while Dad was stationed there and I saw Dumbo the Flying Elephant at the theater. I also have many memories of St. Augustine, Florida. While my younger sister was being born, Dad put a mat under his bunk and I stayed at the camp (how did he get away with that?). I went on maneuvers, riding on the chow truck, and a plane flew over and we were out of action. So we kind of had a picnic. Many other memories. Anyone here know my Dad? He left to go to OCS and trained in Virginia, Oklahoma, Texas and Nebraska before Captain Schutz became the commander of the Motor Pool at Fort Snelling, Minnesota, where we spent the rest of the war.

As an actual inhabitant of Dahnen, Germany, situated in the former Siegfriedline, I viewed again, for several hours, your amazing gallery with many new pictures. What a big work you have done! Well done John.It sure brought back memories and I had forgotten what some of the guys looked like,including the names,I especially enjoyed the picture of Lt.Hansman as I had spent about two months with him when we were at the Siegfried Line and after.We were the FO Section.We had some interesting happenings as we were with the Infantry most of the time. Absolutely amazing! You did it justice. Thanks for posting. I have many of my father's photos as well that I'm in the process of posting on my own pbase site. I truly enjoy looking at your images, and the history they show. I'm going to refer a couple people here; you have done so well categorizing them.
