I get up quite early in the morning. I have always considered sleep to be a waste of time. You only get so much time, so why waste it sleeping when there are lots of other things to do? Every morning I go out to the street and retrieve the papers. We get the Houston Chronicle and the Wall Street Journal. Ginny reads them, I don't touch them. She clips out things that might interest me. That is a pretty good deal since professional "clipping" services are quite expensive. I get mine for free, well almost free.

So what does this have to do with anything. Well this morning I got another insight into human female behavior. You will remember that you have been told that there are three words that really hold a marriage together. You know: "I love you." That really works in my opinion. We got a humorous card from our neighbors recently that alluded to the fact that those three magic words were really "You're right, Dear." Now that wasn't news to me since I have always thought that the best way to end a female onslaught of communication was to quickly (and sincerely!) say "You're right, Dear!" I have found that in experimenting with this approach to manipulating interpersonal interactions with females, especially spouses, certain phrases certainly don't work. For example:"OK, you win"; "I got it"; "I have heard all that before" (remember that ladies think that EVERYTHING has to be repeated multiple times in order to qualify for communicating) or"Weren't you just leaving?" don't work particularly well.

This morning I found that there was another three word phrase that holds two people together. When I went out for the paper, it hadn't been delivered yet. So I went upstairs and starting doing my morning internet surfing. A little while later I decided to go get another cup of coffee and went downstairs. I noticed the bedroom light was on so I decided to see what Ginny was up to. As I entered the bedroom, the light of my life was just heading toward the door. In the dim light of the bedroom I walked toward her with arms outstretched. As we met and embraced, she uttered those three magic words,"Where's my papers?"

Just as important as a marriage license...
