Here is the story behind this photo. Ginny's friend (Pat, the goofy one) told Ginny that the guy at the local repair shop was selling a Lexus. It was in good condition. I think it is a 1994 model. Now, Ginny and I have joked for years about the Lexus driving people around here. We know that the guys across the street are having a party when there are 20 of them parked on the street. The party is clearly not at the other neighbors and certainly not at our house.

Anyway, Ginny asks me if I would like to look at a used Lexus and I told here that I would prefer a mint 1967 Camaro in red with white racing stripes. That wasn't the answer she was looking for, obviously, since she repeated the question. That was the tipoff that there was something serious going on here. You have to remember that the female member of the species will repeat the same statements over and over again. As the male member of the species and spouse of the female, you will hear the same story many times over. The same instructions, the same everything. Women just somehow feel that silence is an affromt on their feminity. They are constantly filling the silence with words in the form of statements. When you hear a question, let it go, but if you hear a question a second or (shudder) third time, you better turn your shields up and listen. I listened and she said we should go drive it to which I used the throw down "You're right, Dear" and hoped that was the end of that. This was Saturday.

Wrong! Monday morning I return to the house and find it empty. (There are other top secret reasons why this is unusual, but I mean these are top secret, unless you are one of Ginny's girl friends, then the top secret has been revealed and discussed to great length). Not long after that the cell phone rings and Ginny is there with the great news that Pat took her over to see the Lexus and they drove it around and decided that it was exactly what Ginny needed. Now a guy would get all sorts of flak for that and be reminded that he didn't NEED anything it was just something he WANTED. Then, of course, he would go out and get whatever it was that he needed or wanted.

So I went over and drove it and decided that it was indeed a car and that it indeed would get a person from point A to point B via route C. So we (Ginny) decided we would get it. This was only the second time in our life when GInny couldn't write the check fast enough. The first time was when we bought our first house in Spartanburg.

Now we have a Lexus, and we need to get rid of my big van, which I am happy to do. So this photo is ginny washing out the floor mats from the van.

Ginny is very excited about the new car, and that is a cool thing.
