Day Thirty Three
First stop of the day was Linville Caverns. They were OK, but just can't compete with many other caverns we have visited. Locally, Luray caverns is very good. It was fun to go underground and hear the stories and see the formations.
Then it was off to Mount Mitchell, the tallest point east of the Mississippi. You could drive almost to the top. It was foggy and misty. We managed to get a few photos of ourselves thanks to some accommodating people. We had been at Mount Mitchell 40 years ago. We did some wave soaring and I set a bunch of North Carolina soaring records for altitude. I flew to 29,350 feet in my beautiful Libelle glider.
Today's photo is taken at the top of the mountain.
