Day Eight
We headed off to Leavenworth, WA, today. On the route we stopped at Toppenish because I read there was the American Hop Museum there. Sure enough, it was there. Sure enough, it was closed. Ginny wandered around town taking photos of the murals on the sides of buildings. Apparently this is what Toppenish is famous for, besides the closed American Hop Museum.
We arrived in Leavenworth about noon and went for an explore into the town. This place was a failing logging town that decided to reinvent itself as a Bavarian Village in the 60's. They were very successful. Now days they have all sorts of tourist things going on. We stopped at a nice restaurant and had lunch. The real attraction in town museum-wise is the Nutcracker Museum. It was cheap thrills. They have everything from the soldier type nutcrackers we all think about at Christmas time to some ancient ones, and everything in between. It was interesting, but I have no urge to go there again. We got some ice cream and headed back to the hotel to check in and relax before the evening festivities.
The evening festivities were a performance of the Sound of Music in an outdoor setting. They pulled it off pretty well and we enjoyed it.
Today's photo is of Ginny at the restaurant. She likes beer.
