Day Three
We had a short drive of about three hours from Blanding to Capitol Reef. For the first hour we passed only two cars on the road. It was definitely a dawdling drive. There were lots of things to see and we made several stops for photo opportunities. Our ultimate objective was Capitol Reef National Park for a few days with our friend Shauna who is a ranger there. We had been there a few years ago and were looking forward to another visit, this time accompanied by an expert.
We went out on a hike in the afternoon which was pretty cool. We saw petroglyphs and graffiti on the walls from the time the settlers were coming through (1880). One of the names on the wall was shot in with a rifle. So we went out and picked apricots, had a food truck dinner in Torrey, and did some more hiking before sun down. It was fun catching up with Shauna.
Today's photo is of the bridge across the Colorado River at the north end of Lake Powell. I like this one because the natural sandstone formations behind really dwarf the structure.
