I really do like to go shooting. We have a great club with great facilities. Today I decided to take out my blackpowder rifle for a shakedown. It has been over 15 years since I had it out to the range. When I pulled it out of the closet, it was missing the nipple. Fortunately, I did some reading and found out that I needed a metric threaded nipple, 6MX.75. It is a Lyman Great Plains rifle in .50 caliber. The barrel is made in Europe, hence the metric thread.

So I set about shooting on the 50 yard range. Great fun, but I had some home made targets which didn't have a lot of contrast to them. They were difficult to see. These targets are just fine in the pistol cells which are 10-12 yards. After a bunch of rounds, I had a misfire. Not unusual. I tried another couple caps, but no joy. So I pulled out the ball puller and pulled the ball out of the barrel. This is not easy to do. Anyway, I had forgotten to charge it with powder. So I continued shooting and damned if I didn't do it again. Another CRS episode. Today's photo is of the two pulled balls with an unfired ball in the middle.
